Oratio Imperata

April 3,2020
11:34am

“ Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of they faithful, enkindle in them the fire of thy Divine love, send forth your Spirit, and it shall be created, and you shall renew the face of the earth.”

Today, the snow is continuing to fall.

Our Kia Rio rental car is almost covered in glistening snow. It almost looks like an igloo. Ruel needs to return it today  and  send some letters in the Canada post at Shoppers Drug nearby.

We hope that the snow plough will reach us before Enterprise’s closing time in Jesus mighty name.

This morning after our family (  my siblings and I) online rosary time, 8am here and 8pm in Manila, I listened to Bo Sanchez’s reflection.

He talks about 3 things we can do when we encounter the  blues or the dark depression.

First, we should write down a list of 100 things we are grateful for.
Second, we should think of one person we can help.
Third, think win-win!

Gratitude has power and it minimizes the destructing power of fear.

Changing our focus from inward to outward is another beneficial trick to overcome fear. It takes a step away from self absorption and dying to oneself to refocus on another.

Bo tells of a person who was battling cancer. She was so consumed in misery and worry. But, the next time they met, the person was glowing despite the wig covering her baldness. Upon inquiry, the person shares her win-win attitude towards her situation.

The victorious cancer patient says, there are 3 possible outcome to her situation. 1.) God answers her prayer for healing at once; 2.) God will answer her prayer slowly ;3.) She dies and inherits eternal life.  To her, all three are win-win situations.

Come to think of it, nobody gets out of this world alive.

We should not fear death…

Prayer:  Lord Jesus, you willingly took up your cross in Calvary and died on it for our sins, so that we can have eternal life…Grant us the grace to prepare each day as if it is our last,  Have mercy  and forgive me for my many sins. Grant me the grace of a happy, peaceful death when my and my family time comes.

I pray for the repose of souls who left us too soon due to this COVID 19 pandemic. Lord Jesus, by your mighty power and greatness, halt and eradicate the virus.

ORATIO IMPERATA

God our Father, we come to you in our need to ask for your protection against the COVID 19 that has disturbed and claimed so many lives.

We pray that you guide the people tasked to find cures for this disease and to stem its transmission. Protect the medical experts that they may minister to the sick with competence and compassion.

We pray for those afflicted. May they be restored to health and wholeness now. Protect those who care for them. Grant eternal rest to those who have died.

Give us the grace in this trying time to work for the good of all and to help those in need. We implore you to stop the spread of this virus and to save us from our fears.

Please grant all these through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit , One God forever and ever. Amen.

We fly to your protection oh Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our petition in our necessities but deliver us always from all dangers, oh glorious and blessed Virgin, Amen.

Our Lady, health of the sick, pray for us.
St. Raphael the Archangel, pray for us.
St. Rock, pray for us.
St. Lorenzo Ruiz, pray for us.
St. Pedro Calungos, pray for us.

Post Script: It so good Enterprise people came to pick up the car key instead. Snow plough has not shown up yet. Most probably the car will be pulled out on Monday yet. Thank God for this service.
