Tomorrow is the first day of ADVENT.

What is ADVENT? It is simply that heightened season where we are being reminded to prepare for the coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ for the 2nd time, which could mean, the final time of judgement and retribution.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Here are the reflections I have based on the questions posed in Kerygma for this Sunday.

We often hear, “Life is short. Better enjoy it.” But how about, “Eternity is long. Better prepare for it”?

This prophecy of Isaiah is incredible. It speaks of a time when there will be no more war. Does our Christian society reflect this vision? Is it getting closer to this reality or moving further away from it? Sometimes, I find it difficult to know the answers to these questions. Perhaps the more important question is: do we minister the peace of Christ to those around us?

The theme of light and darkness is common in the Scriptures. As we begin our Advent journey toward the celebration of Christ’s birth, the Church invites us to come into the light of His presence and leave behind the darkness of our sins. “The ‘time’ has come,” says the Apostle Paul. Are you willing to respond to His call?

We are called to repent of our sins and believe in the saving work of Jesus Christ. We do not have any excuse. If Jesus were to come again tomorrow, would you be ready to greet Him? Have you done all that you could to get rid of the sin in your life? If not, why not? We don’t have valid excuses for not being ready when Jesus comes again or if He calls us to Himself tomorrow.

To whom is God calling you to pass on the light of hope today?

May my daily reflections bring you hope and consolation in your time of darkness.

I am not perfect. I am a sinner.

I constantly seek the Holy Sacrament of Reconciliation to rid me of my most favorite sins and so, my journey will be lighter and as I earn my wings, I will always be ready for God's will in my life.

I continue to ask for God's special graces and tender mercies so I can always hear His voice and instruction, and the will of steel to fulfill them.

May the Mother of my God, help me and pray for me every step of the way.

Last night, my dear friend Jane messages me in the midst of her busy-ness to send me  UBEREATS gift card so we can join her in celebrating her birthday tomorrow!

What a beautiful blessing!

I was just admiring one of the shawls she sent me  decades ago. We were praying the rosary last night and I was beside the nativity table set up and admired it's color and gold stipes so fit for the King of Kinds, Lord of Lords.

Thank you dear Jane. May God bless you more and especially to your coming travels to  Vietnam and Japan, in Jesus most might name.

It is THANKSGIVING DAY in the U.S. and it is something I started to share and observe ever since I could remember...not with all the frills but in quiet gratitude.

We will be watching Lilli's 1st school band concert tonight as a freshman student.

Yay!

Also, today marks the 2nd day of  Asbestos and Mould removal after the October 5,2025 flooding of our basement.

Thank God for this 1st phase of restoration, in Jesus most nighty name.

Praises and thanksgiving be always be upon Our Great God, the God of Abraham, Moses and the many Joseph's of bible stories especially the foster Father of the Universal Church, Joseph, the spouse of Mary ,the Mother of my God.

Today's scripture first  reading is reminding us of the re-dedication of the temple after a period of war in the book of Macabees.

The psalm is full of praises to our Lord.

The gospel from Luke shows Jesus exhibiting righteous indignation at the sellers for the injustices they commit against the poor in connivance with the temple elders in requiring and pricing the prescribed offering.

Jesus cleansed the temple of filth and corruption.

Today is also the feast of  the presentation of Mary to the temple by her parents.

Thank God for the grace of the sacrament of reconciliation last Sunday .

Through this grace, I am able to rid myself of the ugliness of my favorite sins so that the LIGHT of MY LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST will reign in my eyes, my lips and my hands and feet.

Jesus, continue to be the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE for me...I continue to draw closer to you so the dark shadows of  hopelessness and despair, lack of focus and determination may no longer hinder me from doing Your mission for me in my life.

Praise You Oh Lord Jesus Christ.

My youngest is behind me on the black Ikea table doing her homework as she sings " Santa Baby"  very similar in tone and pitch as her favorite Laufey, ( a mixed race of Icelandic and Chinese ) singer.

She was early showing some form of frustration over her math tasks.

Thank God, Ruel was able to work with her and she has let go of her almost negative attitude.

She  gave me her music notes.

Thank God for her musical skills and aptitude.

The Kerygma Daily Family Reflections is quite timely to ponder on.

Listened as well to TV Maria, Salita ng Dios, Salita ng Buhay daily readings and reflections. I love especially what Father Hans Magdurulang, who was formerly assigned in San Felipe Neri in Mandaluyong City said on the family and the quality of understanding and communications within and among the members.

We all trooped to the nearby Dynacare for our annual blood work exam at 7am today.

Watching people wait for their turn gave me so much things to ponder on...I just had to remind myself many times to be cheerful despite the struggle to walk and move about without too much pain.

The lady who took  4 vials of my blood was the same lady who took it last year. She remembered and me too.

My goodness, how time flies.

A call from Lilli's school squared away the right process in giving tardiness  or absence notices.

What a relief!

It was also very comforting to know and be home for lunch when she came home out of the blue yesterday.

Praise God for this precious unscheduled moments.

Last night, I noticed for the first time how dark it was already even at 530pm.

Indeed winter season is here but the past few days shown the melting of the first snow and the temperature just hovering below zero.

The skies are very grey and overcast outside my window.

Yesterday morning, I could see airplanes flying out of the Winnipeg airport one after the other in intervals of just a few minutes in between.

I even saw  a very fast jet that seemed to be a military fighter plane .

Now, I cannot see a single airplane climbing into the heavens...but I hear one now.

Praying  for safety of all  travelers on sea, land and air.

I just learned my sister in law just landed in Heathrow Airport. Wow! Such a wonderful birthday to herself.

Yesterday, thanks to a gentle giant, I was able to accomplish another Christmas Decor set up. 

It just needs a string of lights to complete it.

Father Christmas and Angels garland set on top of the kitchen cabinets above the sink.

I think, it looks so wonderful!

Also, the nativity is all set in a temporary spot. I plan to transfer it to the ledge when the Lady of Fatima image is returned this Sunday after her 2 week visit with us.

But, the girls like the spot of where I placed it. Front and center of everything!

Indeed, the right focus of the season...Christ becoming flesh for our salvation.

Today gospel readings and reflections via Kerygma Family  Daily Bible Reflection is quite challenging. It talks about martyrdom and thriving and flourishing and multiplying our talents and gifts.

Lord, help me see others as You see them and let go of any misunderstanding or judgment. Grant me a heart of compassion and grace toward those I have misjudged. Amen

Today's gospel readings is about two bible characters. Eleazer and Zaccheus.

Even at the face of death, Eleazar, chose to leave a legacy of integrity to the next generation.

Zacchaeus on the other hand, did not allow his shortness in height be  a block  for him to seek and find Jesus. 

He decided to make amends right away as Jesus offered him salvation in His home visitation.

Two weeks ago,  I accepted the image of Our Lady of Fatima of the Legion of Mary group.

Then, last Sunday, a young priest from Nigeria, Father Kingsley Jacob came to visit. He offered us the Sacrament of Penance.

I forgot to ask him for the blessing with Holy Oil.

I have been seeking relief and solution to a physical challenge.

In God's perfect time I claim.

I continue to seek Jesus' healing presence in each nook and cranny of our home and in every cell fiber of our being.

Excuses and lack of discipline and perseverance

Have you invited Jesus to visit your home?

I have just invited the image of His Most Holy Mother, Our Lady of Fatima to grace our home. The rosary devotion has been restored.

Father Kingley has reminded us to keep coming close to Our Lord, never to let go of Him no matter what.

So, Jesus, my Lord and Savior has brought us the grace to have peace...no matter what, He is there.

Where do you need God’s transformative power in your life?

I need more Faith, Hope and Love in my life.

I have faith, God, in His most infinite goodness and generosity, He will grant me an increase of fiath, hope and love.

I praise and thank Him for these gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit.

 Dear Jane:

Surprise, after like almost 2 decades of my blog , I finally have another follower...you!

I had to squint my eyes, remove my far sighted glasses and almost glued my nose to the laptop screen to recognize your photo.

Thank you for doing that.

You just filled up my love tank to overflowing.

In a matter of  14 days, it will be your birthday. Nov, 28.

I wish and pray that our good Lord will bless you with more graces, strength and good health to  travel  more, see your grandchildren's children, enjoy them and still achieve all your dreams.

Here are my favorite memories of you:

1.  After high school, one summer's day, we went around Ozamiz city in a vesta motorcycle. Do you remember the color? I think, it was pink. We got so sunburnt. Then we went to Misamis University and saw something and someone bringing a big bouquet of red red roses. Looking at each other, deep with each's others dirty thoughts, we continued our joy ride...hours and hours more.

2.  You gave me a beautiful charcoal sketch of me during college years.

3. I love hanging out in your Osrox home.

4.  I so admired you when you were working and studying full time. So amazing!

5. You sent me a plane ticket so I could attend your wedding in Iligan city, to which I was not able to attend, but still your never resented me.

6. When Lilli was  a baby, you came one day to Wayan and took over the kitchen, went to the nearby Talipapa.  Then you cooked us  your wonderful Korean Beef...since then, it is a staple for our New Year's menu.

7. Then you treated me to a spa in SM Megamall.

8. There is the time you sent me a big box of scarves and my favorite apron. I still have them, believe it or not.

9. Endless chat then and now. Praise God for technology! You never miss my birthday. Then you end up being emotional and crying. hahaha. Sometimes, I think, oh no, my birthday is soon coming, will Jane cry again?

For now, I will enumerate 10 events...but last and definitely not the least, is the example you are showing me, your kids and those around you how creative you are in your pursuit of earning a living and maintaining such a beautiful home.

I am so in awe of you. I am so proud and  full of joy seeing you add so many stamps to your passport.

I have been wanting to watch it. It has been  more than a year now.

 

I was considering it in our book/movie club, The DBC ( Dandelion Book Club) meeting the other day. We  brainstormed on what our December 2025 topic will be.

 

 

I guess, the Holy Spirit, is indeed leading me to this direction.

 

Here are the reflection questions and my answers for today’s gospel readings.

 

What is the best way to prepare for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ?

 

What are you doing to help build the Kingdom of God right here, right now?

 

Last night, the girls and some good friends went north of Winnipeg to chase Aurora.

 

Ruel had other plans, thus, I stayed behind with him.

 

Watching the drone video of a newly discovered youtuber, satisfied my curiosity for the Northern Lights while  not being exposed to the cold.

 

That is one way for preparing for anything especially the 2^nd coming of Jesus or my final breath a well.

 

My health has been quite frail lately, so, regular exercise and  rest is needed.

 

Later, I pray, my GP’s appointment will have better results and directions moving forward.

 

My November 7,2025 experience confirms the state of the Manitoba Health Care system.

 

A test of patience to be a good patient.

 

My contribution in helping build in kingdom of my  Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is to continue to be watchful and alert so I can detect and follow the leadings of the most Holy Spirit, that His mission for me, may be realized with much determination, resilience , faith, hope and love in all my ways.

 

May God be praised now and always.

Dancing Aurora November 5,2025

 

November 5 was our Parish Priest in Holy Cross' birthday.

I will honor him with another blog soon.

For now, I will share photos of  a surprise celestial light show of the hard to catch, Aurora Borealis on that day.

I was chatting with my counselor when Ruel barges into the room declaring Aurora is visible.

A quick goodbye and  bundle up and oh my...what an awesome view!

I cant say, the novelty has worn out since the last sighting right above us.

This time Aurora  was towards the north side of the backyard...

What a sight to  behold.

God's  wonderful creation...nature at it's finest!!!

November 10,2025 RANDOM THOUGHTS & UPDATES

I sit on our Ikea round table facing the east window. My husband is on the other side of the table, badminton racket on the table, while he is browsing the internet on his phone.

The girls are snoring loudly behind me  sandwich in the couch like two peas in a pod.

It is almost 9pm and it is really dark outside. 

Winter is finally here with the snow. Temperature has been bordering between minus 1-3*C. Snow fall has been spare, but all rooftops are now covered with  white powder like soft ice and I love seeing the chimneys smoking .

I just finished researching on the author Brianna Weist. A 33 year old best selling author. Her mom was slightly featured in her Hodda and Jenna guesting.

She is such a sage!!!

I hope to be able to complete reading her book, The Mountain is You, given to me last 2020 by my BFF Trixie.

I miss her.

Today, I checked on weather news in the Philippines. The devastation left by the Typhoon Tino and Uwan was so heartbreaking.

The thoughts of Urban Planner, Jun Palafox is worth pondering on as we observe the worsening of the tragedies of this weather disturbances.

He encourages Architects and Engineers to check on their conscience.

He lost a lot  financially in a a court case  when he refused a project that entailed cutting down of more than 300 trees.

He emphasizes the need for more open spaces in urban planning and not to cut down the lungs of the environment, which are our trees or forest cover.

Ironically, most countries listen and implement his many suggestions but, not in his own backyard.

Just like Jesus, He was not accepted  by his own.,

Still, it did not deter Him from carrying out His mission of salvation.

I  am so curious to know more about this beautiful young lady. Listening to her parents talk about her and how they struggled with her mental health condition, made me come to my own conclusions.

Listening to her outspoken  views  make me so sad that she succumbed to the demons of  suicide.

May Our Lord Jesus continue to cover us with His most precious blood that we may all be delivered and emerge victorious from the snares and traps of the evil ones machinations.

Praying that her soul and the souls of  Charlie Kirk and  those of the recent tragedies may find the light of Christ shine upon their souls and may they all rest in peace.
